La Casina de Pepa is a traditional Cantabrian country house for 6 guests in Roiz, the main village of the Valdáliga municipality, in western Cantabria, Northern Spain. A carefully restored Montañes-style country house in the very village where Juan de Herrera was born — the 16th-century royal architect who designed the Monastery of El Escorial for King Philip II.
The house is laid out over two floors in a practical, comfortable arrangement.
On the ground floor: a fully equipped kitchen, the living room and a full bathroom with bathtub. The kitchen features a 4-burner ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, double-door freezer, an Italian stovetop coffee maker and a Nespresso capsule machine. The living room has a Smart TV.
On the first floor: three bedrooms and a second full bathroom with shower. The sleeping arrangement includes one bedroom with a king-size double bed (180 cm) and two bedrooms with two single beds (90 cm) each. All rooms have exposed wooden beams and coordinated bed linen.
The property has central heating and free WiFi.
Outside, a small terrace with a table and four chairs is perfect for morning coffee with views over the green pastures and the first slopes of the Sierra del Escudo de Cabuérniga. Free street parking right next to the house.
La Casina de Pepa is an ideal base for couples, families and small groups exploring western Cantabria — where green valleys meet some of Northern Spain's finest beaches. It sits just 15 minutes from Comillas (home to Gaudí's "El Capricho") and the El Soplao Cave, and 10 minutes from San Vicente de la Barquera and Oyambre Beach. A perfect starting point for the Oyambre Natural Park, the Picos de Europa and the rest of Cantabria's must-see spots.
